After some thought and some new inspiration, I have decided to change some aspects of the design for the rock climbing company. After trying some designs using my original colored logo, I have decided to drop the orange and blue color scheme. I want to communicate a masculine aesthetic that is associated with rock climbing. So, now, for the color scheme, I am working with the grey scale to mimic natural rock and a "burned" feel...
For right now...
The business card outlined in red is my finalized idea (...maybe?), and, once printed, the carabiner will be burned onto the page to add an interesting dynamic and texture to the piece.
Did you try making one without the frame? So far I like the 2nd one down on the right. I like the roughly drawn feeling. But since your logo is not symetrical, the frame makes the card look a bit unbalanced. Work on the space and scale of the logo to see if that helps. You can always save the frame for the other side of the card or another piece of stationery.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, the frame does make the composition feel unbalanced. I appreciate the feedback and I am currently working on some more designs that do not incorporate the border. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteJust a thought; have you experimented with merging the 2 images? The cliff faces reminded me of your black & white calipers, so I initially thought there was some correlation there. [& say Hi to your brother :) ]
ReplyDeleteI actually have attempted a couple versions merging the two and I think you are on to something for sure! However, I need to move on for right now and get started on the other work that needs to be done. But, I do wish to come back and continue on the idea when I have (hopefully) the time. And who is this? I will definitely relay the message back to him for you :)
